10 week course

Name: Learn to Draw from Scratch!

This course introduces beginner drawing techniques and is also suitable for those with previous experience. All materials are provided for free and you are welcome to bring your own.
 
You will learn:
  • To develop your confidence in hand/eye coordination;
  • To use a range of drawing materials including pencil, charcoal and pastels;
  • Shading techniques and simple colour theory;
  • Different styles of drawing such as still life and perspective.

Learn about Crafting and Photographing your work!
This course introduces crafting techniques and taking photographs of your work for either personal or professional purposes and is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience. A limited number of cameras will be available if you do not have access to one.
All crafting materials are free and you are welcome to bring your own.
 
You will learn:
  • A variety of craft techniques;
  • How to take professional photographs suitable for personal use or social media with your own cameras / phone cameras;
  • To be part of a small group in a safe and welcoming environment.

Learn About Artists and make your own work!
This course will give learners an opportunity to visit all exhibitions in Leeds Art Gallery, discuss and make your own artwork. 
The group will work mainly in the Artspace at Leeds Art Gallery.  Some sessions will be held in the Education Studio.  All art materials are provided for free and you are welcome to bring your own.
 
You will:
  • Make work inspired by current exhibitions at Leeds Art Gallery;
  • Explore some of the materials used by artists and incorporate them into sketchbooks and on paper and use traditional materials;
  • Create a series of drawings with an opportunity to exhibit the work.

This course is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.

Learn to Create Images using Simple Photography and College Techniques!   
This course is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience. A limited number of cameras will be available if you do not have access to one. All materials are free and you are welcome to bring your own.
 
You will learn:
  • Basic photography techniques;
  • How to use a camera or phone to take photographs;
  • Basic college techniques;
  • How to create images simply and quickly around the theme of identity and what that means to you.

Women – Make a Simple Website! 
This course will teach you how to make a simple website and can be used as an introduction to a follow on course that will look at styling your website in different ways.
The course is suitable for complete beginners and those with previous experience and is aimed at women.
 
You will learn:
  • Basic HTML and CSS;
  • How to understand the basics of the web;
  • How to create your own page for business or personal interest;
  • How to use this knowledge to update a site on an existing platform such as WordPress.

If you are in receipt of income related benefits.  Proof of income related benefits is necessary to be eligible for the fee waiver.  
For LLDD courses, free if you are in receipt of income related benefits and/or declare a health related issue. 
 
£16 for 10 week courses
If you are in receipt of a state pension.
 
£60 for 10 week courses
Full course fee.
 
Priority is given to learners who live or work in Leeds.
