IMPROVE YOUR DRAWING AND PAINTING SKILLS! (LLDD Course – please see fee information)
10 week course
Tuesdays 1pm to 3pm
Start Date: Tuesday 26th September
Venue: Inkwell, 31 Potternewton Lane, Leeds LS7 3LW
 
You will:

LEARN ABOUT ARTISTS AND MAKE YOUR OWN WORK!
7 week course
Wednesdays 10am to 12 noon
Start Date: Wednesday 18th October
Venue: Leeds Art Gallery, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 3AA
 
You will:
• make work inspired by current exhibitions at Leeds Art Gallery, including the work of Joseph Bueys;
• explore some of the materials used by Beuys and other artists and incorporate them in to drawings in sketchbooks and on paper and use traditional materials; 
• create a series of drawings that can be used as a starting point for a follow on course, with an opportunity to exhibit the work in 2018.   
 
The group will meet with staff and discuss the show’s installation and context as well as learning more about the artist.  The group will work mainly in the Artspace at Leeds Art Gallery. Some sessions will be held in the Education studio. You will visit all exhibitions in the gallery, discuss and make artwork.
 
 
LEARN ABOUT CRAFTIVISM AND MAKE YOUR OWN WORK!
7 week course
Wednesdays 1.30pm to 3.30pm
Start Date: Wednesday 18th October
Venue: Leeds Art Gallery, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 3AA
 
This practical making course will explore activism through craft and look at ways to use art to tackle various issues. We will look at how art fits into society and how it can highlight and effect positive change. You will also look at the work of Joseph Bueys and link your own work to this.  
You will:
• learn cross stitch, sewing, knitting, banner and bunting making postcard/card making;
• be encouraged to create a public piece of art or fabric work that can be exhibited and enjoyed;
• look at a variety of socially engaged artists and activists;
• learn to record your learning process through blogs/social media, creating an identity for the project as a group;
• be encouraged to discover how making in fun and novel ways can promote change.
 
The group will work mainly in the Artspace at Leeds Art Gallery. Some sessions will be held in the Education studio. You will visit all exhibitions in the gallery, discuss and make artwork.
 
 
LEARN HOW TO PRINT ON PAPER AND FABRIC!
10 week course
Wednesdays 10am to 12 noon
Start date: Wednesday 27th September
Venue: The Feel Good Factor, 53 Louis Street, Leeds LS7 4BP
 
You will:
• Improve existing skills;
• Learn new techniques;
• Be inspired by artists’ work;
• Make work to take home;
• Meet new people.
 
 
FEE INFORMATION
Free – if you are in receipt of income related benefits, and/or for LLDD courses, declare a health related issue. For non-LLDD classes proof of income related benefits is necessary to be eligible for the fee waiver. 
£16 for 10 week courses / £11.20 for 7 week courses – If you are in receipt of a state pension
£60 for 10 week courses / £42 for 7 week courses – Full course fee 
 
Priority is given to learners who reside or work in Leeds.
