IDOP Leeds 2017 Community Event Grants

A little later than usual but we are pleased to announce that applications for community event grants for International Day of Older People (IDOP) 2017 are now open.

International Day of Older People is celebrated worldwide on the 1 October each year; in Leeds we stretch the celebration out over a week to allow organisations to hold events to celebrate the contribution that older people make to the city.

Theme

The events focus on a different theme each year and the theme for 2017 is Diversity of Older People. Organisations can apply for Community Grants of up to £200.

We welcome applications that can demonstrate a link to the theme:

Diversity encompasses acceptance and respect.
It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.
It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.
It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

and reflect the ethos of IDOP which is:

To promote and celebrate the contribution of older people to the city
To highlight the barriers that still exist to older people’s full participation

Who can apply?

Voluntary and Statutory Sector Organisations.
We particularly welcome applications from small and medium sized groups and organisations.
We encourage organisations to apply who want to expand their service/activities to include older people.

You can find out more at the Forum Central Website

The closing date for applications is 4.00pm, Thursday 3 August 2017
