Unity Housing Association in partnership with Leeds City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency have completed a development of 28 flats and bungalows aimed at people over the age of 55.

The development is made up of 28 properties, including 9 available for shared-ownership, giving those on a low-income the opportunity to own their own home.

Properties are available from £62,500 (based on a 50% equity share). Anyone interested, in purchasing a share in one of these modern, stylish new properties should contact Rosa Homes on 01924 206981 or visit www.rosahomes.co.uk.

The properties have been built to Lifetime Homes standards and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, which makes them more energy efficient than properties built under the current Buildings Regulations.

Wayne Noteman the Regeneration Director at Unity Housing Association said
“This development is a great example of how the Council, Homes and Communities Agency, Unity and local people can work together to develop much needed affordable homes that play an important role in raising the standard of housing in the city”.

‘To ensure the scheme met the needs and aspirations of the local community a Local Lettings plan was devised in consultation with local ward members’.

‘This scheme has been able to illustrate the added value of working in partnership, by highlighting the commitment of the contractor ESH to employ six local people on this site.’

Many of those who have secured work opportunities have done so with the help of Unity’s dedicated Employment Team. Unity’s Employment Team were established in 2011 to help tenants and the wider community identify and obtain work and training opportunities.

The Team can help with practical job-skills such as preparing a CV, guidance for job-searching and applications and practising interview technique. The Team have already helped secure over 250 jobs, work placements or training opportunities for tenants and local people – but they’d like to help even more! If you could benefit from some one-to-one support please contact the Employment team on 0113 200 7746 or 0113 200 7738.

Stratford Court is not the first scheme that Unity has completed this year. In March, work was completed on a major development at Brown Lane East which will provide homes for 42 families. The scheme is a redevelopment of a brownfield site, complementing the wider regeneration of Beeston and Holbeck.

The scheme features 18 flats and 24 houses. 16 of the houses are available for shared-ownership, with prices starting from £72,500 (based on a 50% equity share). All properties are fitted with stunning new kitchens and bathrooms and benefit from large room sizes. Within walking distance of the city centre, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

Anyone considering purchasing a share in a property on Brown Lane East is invited to attend an ‘Open-Day’ at the scheme on 18th April, 10am-2pm. Alternatively, please contact Rosa Homes on 01924 206981.
