Artist statement:

The conceptual aspect of my work involves looking at the relationship between colour, music, and painting. And the subjective side concerns Ancient African History, inspired by Ethiopian Arts, Roots Reggae music, Biblical, Prophecy and Amarnan Art. In my artwork Truth is sought and obtained through the word, sound power of King David’s Royal Music, Musicians and performers. The eye of the mystic and biblical prophecy serve as the supreme basis for my creative ideas.

Recently my artwork has developed into using digital artsPaintings by Marcia Brown, artist and arts tutor, Leeds, West Yorkshire
and creating music for performance. Last year I was sponsored by Leeds City Museum to do a performance ‘JAH Fire Burning ‘ at the Seven Arts Centre that used the museum’s artefacts to tell the story of the Rastafarian Community in Leeds. I was the executive producer alongside David Hamilton Artistic director & dancer. Performing also was Royal Blood, Chris Campbell, Khadijah Ibrahiim and Supa.

The performance was filmed and will be screened at my next exhibition at the Leeds Museum. This exhibition forms part of Faith in the City Exhibition. I will also have a selection of my digital images on display with the museums artefacts, which were used in the show.
This will open on 2nd March 09.
